Hello and welcome to my website!
My name is Maddie and I knit a lot…I knit a lot of shawls, garments, hats and socks, and have an ever expanding stash of gorgeous skeins of yarn.
Like a lot of knitters, I learnt to knit as a child but then didn’t pick up the needles again until I had children, nearly eight years ago. After that I joined a local knitting group where I met lots of other knitters and learnt lots of new skills, and became a bit obsessed with knitting.
I have a background in primary school teaching so it was a natural progression for me to start teaching knitting, and I’ve been doing that for the last four years with Knitting For All. I love teaching people to knit; both kids and adults. It’s very satisfying when a new skill ‘clicks’ with someone and they ‘get it’, then they’re off making all kinds of things and feeling very proud of themselves. My other teaching clients include Perth Festival of Yarn, Aberdeen Yarn Festival, and Maison de Moggy.
I started designing about three years ago. I love the puzzle of designing: how do I get a a piece of knitting to look like that, how do I get the stitches to make the shapes and the textures I want, how can I use the colours together so they sing? My designs try to solve these issues, and many more.
My patterns can be found for sale in my Ravelry store:
